This game promised a lot, but was something of a let down. The introduction is wonderful, allowing the player to outfit his/her ship for the colonization of a distant planet, and to select his/her destination based on probe data. There are extensive animated sequences showing everything from the initial launch to the establishment of the base colony, but from then on, the game is, essentially, SimCity. Competition with a "breakaway" colony is terribly cerebral, and mining for resources becomes a huge irritation. The rich technology web is, at this point, the game's only saving grace.
